Hiking in South Tyrol/Südtirol starts with the first warm rays of sun in March. The Texelgruppe Nature Park and the Sarntal Alps offer rich opportunities for hiking around Merano/Meran: the variety of hiking areas invite guests to enjoy a relaxed hike, as well as for high-altitude mountaineering. Well-kept trails lead up to mountain inns with panoramic views. These also offer the chance to sample regional dishes such as dumplings (Knödel in German) or apple strudel, made from fresh, local ingredients.
